I sail on lake michigan and I've seen two 260 hunters from Montrose harbor to new buffalo michigan. About how many of this model have been sold. I was thinking of buying one when I sell my 22ft hunter. I'm retireing in two years and I hope to get alot more sailing time in and I'll need the extra room for staying aboard longer. I'm leaning toward the wing but I'm affraid I'll have a hard time trailering and lanching it. thanks for any imformation.

CB version

Based on input I've seen in this forum, if you plan to trailer then go with the centerboard version. The 26/260 is a big little boat. Sure gives you lot's of open living space for a 26 footer.

For trailering, go water ballast

Would agree with Ron regarding retractable keel and water ballast. I've got a '94 H26 that I sail primarily on Lake Michigan, essentially anywhere I can find a ramp. As far as room, I've spent the weekend on it with my wife, four kids (6,4,2, 5month), and a dog. Much longer, or when they get bigger, and it will get tight. Look around for a used one, let someone else work out the bugs and load it up with toys first. Good luck. T J

One Thats Available

I know there was a new '99 260 available at Pollard's Landing in Holland, MI (about 3hrs from Chicago)as recently as 3 week ago...they were willing to deal on it too. I looked closely at it but, following TJ's advice, bought a used '97 still under warranty with lots of extras.
