I need to remove the Yacht Specialties stainless steel wheel from its stainless steel hub to install a wheel pilot and it ain't coming off. It appears to just slide on with a key and with a retainer nut. The nut came off fIne and I sprayed some anti rust stuff in there and I fashioned a puller from an automobile puller tool but damn! No budge! Anybody out there been through this? What can I do here?

Try putting the puller on with moderate tension and smacking the middle bolt with a wooden mallet or tapping with a small ball-peen hammer. Bang it a few times and then turn the bolt 1/4 turn and try again until it pops loose. If that doesn't break it loose after a few turns, then you might want to try applying some heat first.

Cheers,

Brad's right, aslthough my experience has been that a bigger puller should be your first step. A friend of mine has exactly the same problem, and was in exactly the same place as you are now. He got a bigger puller from the local boatyard and it worked, without any heat which could, if not applied properly, do some damage. Grease it when you reassemble.
