My 1976 30' Hunter is missing the threaded rod that goes into the pedistal used to lock the wheel. I have tried Hunter as well as tring to use a stock part. So far no luck. If anyone has any ideas ,please e-mail me at jellis@rand-display.com . Thanks for your help.

It's more than a bolt.

The brake is more than just a threaded rod. You might be able to see the detail in the online Edson catalog. See "pedestal accessories", then "wheel brake" in the link below. The one on my 1979 H37C still works well.

Wheel Brake

If you pedestal is a Yacht Specialities brand, a replacement brake is available from the store here at Hunters Owners. I installed one on my "85 H37C and it worked great and was easy to install.

Not originally included

I doubt if the pedestal brake was originally included on your boat. On my h33, (1980), at least, it wasn't, and, in fact, it was my first add-on. I remember thinking, when I came home from the chandlery with my little handful of hardware that cost (back then) $85, "Gee, this boating may turn out to be an expensive hobby!" Ha!:) By the way, my pedestal was an Edson, and the brake was listed in their catalog.
