I had to replace my steering cable a few years ago and had it done "professionally". The steering has been hard to use and we have discovered that most likely the trouble is with how the cable was installed. It appears to be in a sort of "S" pattern under the decking on the port side. We are thinking that the cable should have less twists and turns so that it would slide more smoothly inside the sleeve.

Does anyone have a birdeye view of how the cable should be run or could you recommend a way to feed the cable to eliminate as many turns as possible?

As a footnote, I have learned that if the rudder is not in the full down position and secured, the steering is also even harder to control.
