Has anyone covered their wheel? I bought leather cover and foam backing
at Oakland Boat Show in April from Boat Leather. Couldn't get leather
to butt join and sew with thread provided even after soaking in water as vendor suggested. Thinking
I will ask for leather without foam. Any suggestions about any other types? Thank you.

Re wheel cover, do it without foam, we did and am very happy
Agree. You don't need the foam, the leather insulates the wheel from your (now) frozen fingers. One of the first things we did in the summer (!!!) of 1998. Once done, you can stop wearing gloves in July!:)

Heat is the issue here, the wheel, without leather, gets too hot in the sun to touch. The leather keeps it cool, even in July when the sun is beating down and the temp is 95 degrees.

Did you buy the leather from Edson? They are sponsers of the 310 assn. and should be responsive and offer a discount.

That is a neat way to do it. Got the leather from Boatleather at Oakland Boat
Show in April. They couldn't figure out what happened - maybe bad piece of
stiff leather? - but shipped me replacement which I will use without foam
underneath. Your way looks pretty good and would give good grip on wheel.
