Well, after much scraping with a straight edge, and pulling, and then using a bunch of goo-off, I've finally gotten the old name and port of call decals off of the transom. I'm now looking to replace them, and am looking for a web site that offers good decals. A quick search has uncovered several locations. Anyone have a preference on where to go for decals of this sort? Is there another avenue that I'm not thinking about? Your help is always appreciated! Kevin on 'Pure and Easy' in Charlotte, Vermont

Boat US!!

I think BOAT US has a great system for the price. My former boat was a h27. I order'd the name "Passionata" from B US. I think it took me less than an hour to apply the decal (more like 20 minutes), and 5 years later (I think) the name and color still looks fresh. My new boat, a Hunter 29.5 ("Tangled Sheets"...named BEFORE I purchased her). BOAT US is definitely worth looking into though. Good luck and have fun out there...

Local sign maker

I had custom vinyl letters done by a local sign maker. Since they are done on computer, you can pick almost ANY shape zise color combination and style you can think of. My transom name and port of call cost $22.00 and the large one was about 6" high letters.. The name was all one piece so no spacing required. just a thought Ward PS... found a picture that shows part of name the letters are metalic blue with glitter grey shadowing.

Hunter 33.5 Saint Louis
Local Sign Franchise

We paid about $45 for both sides. The lettering was about 8" high by 60" long with a different color drop shading. Only took a few days to make and they were pretty easy to put on myself dockside. Jeff H33.5 1993

I used a local sign shop

I wanted to customize so I went to a local sigh shop and asked if the could substitute an eye rather then the dot in Miss because I had just lost Lisa to a brain aneurysm. The job was about $45 for both sides. I’m happy with the coded I miss Lisa.

Ok, I have to throw mine in too....

After many years, the painted on name started to show its age, so I sanded and sanded, still there is the old name raised in the gelcoat. Guess it will be there forever.. so, anyway, I could not find anyone that would repaint it by hand so I went to a local sign shop and had this one done up. Applied it myself with no problems, went on as one piece. Oh, cost about $40 which included the "Hunter 33"

Try reflective graphics

A local sign shop such as Signs Now can produce your graphics using reflective material such as 3M's Scotchlite. Cost a little more but really gives a dramatic effect when even a small amount of light hits the graphic. This is the stuff that stop signs are made out of. I have used it for 20+ years and receive a lot of positive comments from other boaters. Also because it is reflective if you ever need assistance the Coast Guard or others will be able to you a lot sooner than if not reflective. Suggest that you avoid reds and greens as they could be confused with port or starboard running lights. You could have your vinyl graphics mounted on reflective material with just a white border around it for a unique effect.
