Today, the U.S EPA is releasing the interim decision for irgarol, which finalizes the cancelation of its use as an active ingredient in antifoulant paint in order to help preserve America’s diverse aquatic ecosystems.
WM says only qty-2 SR21-Blue in-stock, which I tried to order last week... my order was canceled b/c it was out-of-stock... you may have better luck, but be aware that most online retailers I checked with don't actually have stock. Lots of places expect to get VC17 this month... don't know if that will happen.
I choose to pay the premium on eBay. Was hard to bite-off that price, but justified it to myself that it was worth having the SR21-bronze sitting on my shelf now, and avoid scrambling to find something at launch. Paying a high price now was worth avoiding that risk to me.
Don't know what I'll do next year...

The Holland MI store shows 20 SR-21 in stock. Making a run this afternoon!

I did pick up 2 quarts of SR-21. The guy at West Marine says that Interlux is re-formulating VC-17.
I managed to get 3 quarts of VC 17 Extra original from Defender early last month. Most sources had only blue or red. Now seeing Defender only has blue listed and most of the other outlets say out of stock. Looks like a reformulation is coming again but not sure when. This was a problem a couple of years ago when only VC 17 was available, Extra was suspended due to an issue with the biocide. For sure the standard did not work as well as there was significant slime build up at the end of the season.

I called my local chandlery today to ask about availability of VC17. They said they had about a pallet of paint. They have a big sale and open house in March…and I asked if they will have enough (it is usually a big draw for their open house)…they are waiting for more, but acknowledged that is being reformulated, but that they should have more for the open house.
I may just go early and get a few quarts before they run out…I can’t tell you the name though…

I spoke with Interlux about a month ago. They said the new formula should be to distributors right about now. Said it is fully compatible with the previous version and can be painted right over the old. I haven't tried to order since I talked to them.
They have reformulated the paint and have added black too. The new VC cans will have a black top, or a sticker on the red top if the black tops are not available yet. That is how you distinguish between the old and the new. My latest update is Original and Black will start shipping out next week to the warehouses and then to dealers. Blue shortly after that. Red is still being delayed due to registration of the pigment to make the red color. Initial batches will have limited quantities. This was sent to me today and it is targeted to the Midwest Sales region. I cannot speak for other parts of the country.
I picked up 4 quarts of original red at Crowleys Yacht Yard last weekend. They had a few pallets (red and blue). It was “on sale “ for $59.95 and included a mail-in rebate ($5 a quart).
That was for their spring sale and open house called “Yachta-Palooza”.
They were encouraging shoppers to “stock up”, because prices for the new formula would be $20 a quart higher…maybe a scare tactic, but I bought enough for 2 applications (4 years)…

Does the reformulation have any alternate biocide for slime resistance, or did the just switch it to copper only?
SO, does this outfit have a website to order from? My color preference is "Green" if you get my drift.
