What's going on with Marlow Hunter?

Does anyone know? Last year, I heard that Hunter stopped making their larger boats as they had a dispute with their distributors, and were only focused on smaller trailer sailors.

But now with the boat market red hot, you would think they should be in full production. But are they? I have no idea. Their web site is still up like normal, but there are no events on the calendar. Their Facebook page hasn't been updated in over a year. Does anyone know what they are doing?

Here is an article from last October. A&M Manufacturing and StyleCraft Boats will build their boats in the Alachua Marlow+Hunter plant, and build the 15 to 22 foot MH boats.

Our closest Hunter dealer is now selling Catalina with no mention of Hunter on their web site. Sad to see the annual Rendevous disappear.

Should I be worried that Hunter specific parts may run out in matter of time?

For the record, Al Fooks owns sailboats owners and hunter owners forums. Al is in Florida where he has a working relationship with manufacturers for parts for Hunter sailboats which is why the forum store relocated to Florida. Al has the build list of parts for hunter sailboats. Al works tirelessly for sailboat owners. Al, Joe and Mike are former Hunter employees. Al worked on the line building hunters, selling parts both to dealers/boat owners and warranty. Al established a one on one service to assist owners in repairs. His whole life is serving you, the owner.

I met Al the very first day when he started working at Hunter and when I rarely speak to him, he has very little time for me since he is serving you! I trust him as well as Joe and Mike.

This site has your back and I trust them all to include Dave Groshong and others at this site. Now you know the crew has your back

+1 for Al and all the folks there at sailboat owners. When I had some damage to my bow pulpit, Al was able to source a brand new one made from the original jigs and a very reasonable $ including the shipping. Less than half what it would have cost to have one built on site and it fit perfectly!

As the sales department has moved to Florida noted in my earlier post, Phil Herring, Dave Groshong, etc will remain in place. Phone numbers to sales site and contact will remain the same. Please never give out personal phone numbers of staff as it sometimes slows them down trying to help you. You have no idea how busy it gets working sometimes 6-7 days per week even though they have hired new staff. Thanks

Besides the toll free number, the other number listed is 206-932-7245

++1 for SBO. There is no support from Hunter - in fact, Hunter Marlowe is not Hunter, and folks have posted here that they've said that in years past when called for support on Hunter sailboats (when there was someone to call). So for all practical purposes SBO is **the** place to go for "Hunter" parts. They work to source parts from vendors and maintain that supply chain for us, and where "Hunter" parts are no longer available from vendors they source replacements that will work.

A good example - a few weeks ago the plastic clips that hold my cockpit table leaves to the metal frame shattered. They're important, because without them the leaves swing freely as the boat heels. Not good. Can't blame the parts - they were 13 years old and plastic just starts to get brittle and break at that stage. This site doesn't carry the "original" Hunter plastic clips, but they do have a replacement in stock which requires two clips per leaf instead of one, and required me to drill two additional small holes in the underside of the starboard table to mount them. And they work like gangbusters. And they were very inexpensive so I bought extras. And they shipped them quickly. Sure I could've figured something out on my own, but this is the right solution.

Another example - they had the FACTORY deck pinstriping in stock for my 13 year old boat, and it was cheaper than getting it made from one of the online specialty sites that only do decals/pinstriping, which wouldn't have been the same color either.

So as long as SBO is around I don't worry about getting Hunter specific parts. Heck, if SBO doesn't have it on the website you can call these guys, tell them what you're looking for, they'll UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, and they'll try to find it! Who else DOES THAT?!?! West Marine? Wholesale Marine? Boats.net?

This is the first place I look for most parts for my 2009 H36, and I don't even quibble on price. I sense that they try to keep their prices very fair, which won't be a match for sale prices elsewhere - but so what? I consider it well worth not shopping sale prices for a lot of things that I can get here so that we can help keep these guys in business. We NEED them, and these guys are a business worth supporting with our checkbook.

If you go to the electrical department at home depot etc, you will find gray PVC clips used to hold conduit. They fit and hold better that the original ones and they do not cut your legs up.
