What's a Season

For those of us who are unable to sail year round due to the onset of winter, the "season" represents the period that we do sail. So if you hear of maintenance at the beginning or end of the season, that's the reference. Otherwise, think of it as "annual".
The season is that time just before, between and after Christmas/New Year.

I'm originally from Louisiana ... so for those down there, a "season" is either garlic, onion, celery or bell-pepper...I'm always confounded by mention of "a season" in boat maintenance. So what is it? 3 months? 1 year? or Weather season..like winter, summer.....?
