The restoration is nearly complete of the old 24. I do have a question about the enclosed photograph, what went there? I have holes like that on both sides for something.any help would be appreciated.
Could be winches for your jib sheets. That's where mine are, puts you in a good position to single hand. Do a tack or jibe, release the leeward sheet turn the boat move to the new windward side pick up the leeward sheet and winch.Could be for something else but that would be my guess.Mike Coons
On my 22', 1971 VENTURE I HAVE A CAM CLEAT WITH A EYE TO RUN THE JIB SHEETS THROUGH. Where are your winches located and how do you cleat/tie off the jib sheets? There are a number of ways of doing this, but if you have "modern" winches I suggest that you use cam cleats for ease of stopping the sheets and releasing them.Novelman
I own a V 2-24. A cleat goes there. The winch is forward of the cleat by about three feet. Mine is original so, I believe the cleat was installed at that pointby the factory. Other owners may have changed the location of the cleat, winch, etc. but I even took a look at my boat just a moment ago to make certain.A cleat!Cap'n KarlWhidbey Island, WA
