What Was Hunter's OEM Muffler For the Yanmar QM Series?

The water lift muffler on my 1980 Cherubini Hunter 36 that was fitted with a Yanmar 2QM20 is labeled "W.H. Salisbury M-120". It looks like a black hot water bottle... made with flexible (but thick) neoprene rubber. The thing actually pulsates at the exhaust impulses.

An internet search indicates that the model is no longer available on the market. Mine is still functional, but I am thinking ahead.

Anybody know if this was the Hunter stock muffler?

My 1979 2QM20 had a metal cylindrical muffler, not a water lift. And I don't think it had any kind of labeling. When mine began leaking I replaced it with a custom fiberglas muffler from these guys: http://www.centekindustries.com/aboutus.html . It was a direct replacement and not a water lift. But they do make a water lift.

Take a look at the Vetus line. I replaced the leaking muffler on my YSM12 on my 1979 Hunter 30 with one.

I had an 1980 H30 with a 2QM15 Yanmar. The original muffler was a SS, water-lock muffler with a 2" inlet and outlet. The SS muffler is no longer manufactured, but a Primex fiberglass replacement can be purchased on eBay or from Marine Mufflers. This is an in-line horizontal water lock muffler. The part Number was MC2 and they have a variety of sizes for a range of engines.

If you are interested I have a replacement fireproof fiberglass in line water lift / muffler for marine diesel engine 12 hp to 25 hp. It is new.I thought I needed it for my '77 Hunter 30' but it turned out it was a clogged exhaust elbow and not the muffler. Contact me if you are interested.

Guess that between Hunter and various owners needing to replace, the muffler brands/configuration are many.
