Recently purchased a 79 Hunter Cutter and want to do some interior work around the Nav Station -- replace/upgrade instruments, Loran, etc. What type of wood was used (it is not teak, thanks for asking). It looks to dark for cherry and to light for mahogany. Since mahogany is likely to be too expensive anyway, I may go ahead and use cherry.

Not teak?

Thought it was. I can tell you that it is solid, not veneer. I just cut a hole under the nav station, into the aft cabin cabinet. That is 3/4" of solid wood that I thought was teak. But you are probably right, teak would be too expensive for a solid bulkhead. Then again, if you read the H37C brochure(there are two web-sites) it states that the aft-cabin door is teak. And on my boat it is the same color as the rest of the wood. My wood has several coats of varnish and looks like the interior of Carl's H37C(http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=204587#a=1505977). The '#' sign must be replaced with a real ampersand which does not display on HOW, as in '&'(I just keyed a real ampersand between the quotes). Ed(schencked@bfusa.com)
