We are about to buy a 1989 catalina36 in another city. I requested a copy of an old survey. I was shocked to read the reference and I quote ' a split was noticed in the Fiberglass encased fin keel". I thought that Catalina 36s had external lead keels. This person is not available for comment. Can someone assure me that the keel is external lead? And where would this split actually be. Note: this person also comments “the keel fairing laminate was seen to contain water” I take he is refer to the seam where the external lead meats the hull!
