What to do with an old generator?

I recently replaced the Northern Lights 5kw generator on my sailboat. The old unit's engine was shot and needs complete rebuild. The generator works fine.

Parts would be about 2,000, labor another 2,000. The unit sells new for 11,000 or so.

Does anyone know of companies that buy these for rebuild?

Seems a waste to throw away a perfectly good generator.
