What size jib do you use with in mast furling?

Beneteau 321 San Francisco
I have a new to me this season Beneteau Oceanis 321 with in mast furling. It has a small main and a 130 furling genoa. I sail in San Francisco Bay where the winds are often in the 20 knot range during the summer and fall. The genoa seems large to us compared to our previous Hunter 28.5, but that boat had a bigger full batten main. What are other Beneteau owners with small mains using for their foresails?

And imagine if your furling line decided to part as you struggled to shorten your genoa on a typically breezy bay day? You seem like the perfect person to have a modest seasonal jib sail. These big genoa's are designed for the more common high wind variable locales.

Usually fractional rigged boats like yours have 135% genoas and if the wind pipes up you can reef it by furling it in to shorten sail. So, you just might have the sail you want already. Just reef/furl it.

Better yet, get a 100% jib and put it on when the wind is up. It's better to have the correct sail than one that is rolled up with lousy shape.

Beneteau 331 as coastal cruiser or more

Hello, all. I am new to this forum and look forward to the conversation. I have a 2002 Beneteau 331 that I am moving to San Fransisco Bay where I have been taking lessons from Club Nautique. I am comfortable that the boat is fine for bay sailing, but what about taking her out and down the coast? The ocean rating seems to indicate the boat can do far more than coastal travel, but I wonder. Any first hand info available? Billy
