I am concidering adding a coolerator by Askeland, inc (www.askelandinc.com). Does anyone know the size of the icebox on the 29.5??

ice box dimensions

The width is 28", depth is 13", height is a guess but i think it's around 24". I know it's hard to get the beer out of the bottom. I'm sure of the width and depth as we purchased an ice saver insulated mat that goes over the top of the contents and that was the measurement.

What is an ice saver insulating mat..

..and where can I buy it (for my 29,5 refrigerator )?

Ice Saver

The Super Q Ice Saver is an insulated pad that you put over the top of the contents of the ice box. It costs $0.06 per sq. inch. The 13x28 pad cost $22 + 5.50 shipping. Standard Yacht Fittings 800-622-1877 They ship and you send a check after you get the pad. Works great, well made and a nice company to deal with.

Where to get one...

It is called a Coolerator. It is a 12volt, silent, no-compressor system that cools using thermoelectrics. The reason for my question on the size of the icebox is due to model size. The model 1002 will handle up to 4.5 cu ft. Where the model 1003 will handle 8 cu ft. There is a $100 difference. I am going to go with the 1003 for $365 plus shipping. It is an auto-defrost unit. 12 volt drain

My understanding is that thermoelectrics use a large amt. of power, what's the word on these models.

I think

I think these are Peltier effect coolers. Very inefficient. MC

Warm Water

I believe Thermoelectrics rely pretty heavily on ambient temperatures and can only generate so many degrees of differential. For those of us in the south they might have trouble getting cold enough due to high water/air temps. If under ideal conditions they can generate say 40 degrees of difference this would often leave us with a fairly tepid icebox.Maybe I have misinterpreted their specs, has anyone in the warmer climes/tropics had experience?
