My centerboard bushing & pin are shot. I can tell by the play (wobble) when I lift up the board while on my trailer. I plan to have my H22 put on stands to repair them but would like to know if anybody here knows the diameter of the plastic bushing & pin. I'd like to purchase or have fabricated these items before remove them as the marina I'm going to use is only giving me a couple days time to do the repair. Thanks in advance. Pete

I repaired mine by the following method. The "pin" is 1/2 inch in diameter. I purchased a stainless steel bolt of the appropriate diameter. I sawed off the threads and head of the bolt to the correct length which you can determine after you have removed the board. As to the "bushing" I waxed my new "pin," placed it in the worn out hole (making sure it was centered and at right angle to the board) and then poured West System expoxy (used with correct filler) around the "pin." After it cured it was a simple matter to remove the "pin," and clean up any excess epoxy. I then had a "bushing" which was the excat size of my new "pin." Be sure to re-bed the bolts used to hold the bracket in place when you put it all back together. I did this two years ago, and have not had a "wobble" since. garyg

gary, Thanks for the info. I do have another question. From what I could see while under the boat when trailered, the area of the centerboard around the bushing seems damaged. By that I mean that the filler material around the bushing has voids. I'd guess at least an inch or more where the bushing itself flops around. Can you suggest a good filler material to fill this area after I replace the pin & bushing? Thanks again, Pete

It is difficult to advise you about the damage to your boat with out being able to actually look at it. However, I will relate the repairs I made to my boat while having the board out to fix the pin. There were several "gouges", nicks, and areas of abrasion on the hull in and around the center board well. These were all in the area where the brackets which hold the pin are located. None of these were through the hull, and I don't believe any of them were serious enough to cause leaking. I repaired all of them - again using the West System expoxy and the appropriate filler for their product. Some of these problems were actually under the brackets, and were only discovered when I removed them. If your problems are more serious than what I have described I think it would be advisable to have a "professional" take a look. A small amount of money spent up front for good advice might save you many dollars in the long run. I will check back with the forum in case you have any more questions for me. I find it frustrating when I recieve help from the respondents, and then have another question. I rarely get answers to follow up questions. garyg
