We have a 2007 Hunter 45CC and wonder if any Hunter owners out there know what size Air Con (BTU's) we would need to service the aft cabin and half saloon area.
Cheers,
Helen and Mark

We have a 16,500 for a Hunter 33.5. This services the whole boat. I would expect that
10-15,000 would suffice for your aft cabin and 1/2 saloon. Mind you that mine just doesn't keep up during the heat of the day. Not many do.

We have a Hunter 30' and we installed a 16000 btu unit with two air vents one in the bath and the main . It will freeze you out when it's 100 outside.

Air Conditioning

Hi Helen and Mark, our P42 is about the same size and layout of your boat. It came equipped with two Marine Air reverse cycle units; 16,500 BTU for the main cabin, which was installed in the starboard settee and a 9,000 BTU for the aft cabin installed inside the aft berth, behind the fuel tank. The Little Giant sea water pump that feeds both heat pumps was installed in the starboard side bilge locker next to the companion way step.

The heat pumps work great as long as you have a good supply of AC electricity either from a Genset or shore power connection. Their AC electrical draw is way more than a 12 DC battery bank can handle.

We have a MarineAir 16,000 btu on our 376. It is vented to vee berth, main salon and master, and is more than adequate for the boat even with temps in the 90's. To echo prior comment shore power or appropriate generator necessary.
