Peggie:

What hose do you currently recommend to minimize odor permeation? Previously you were recommending the Sealand Odorsafe (which as replaced by the Odorsafe Plus). Is that still your recommendation? Do you have any knowledge of the Shields Poly X? If so, what are your thoughts.

I'm currently replacing my Jabsco head and all of the sanitation hoses (actually, the OEM hoses were wet exhaust hoses and are stinking real bad after 11 years in service ) on my Catalina 380, and as I need about 23 feet of the 1.5" hose, I really don't want to buy the wrong hose. As I work for WM, I can get either the Sealand or the Shields at a pretty good price.

The best today is Trident 101/102 Trident Marine: Sanitation Hose They're identical except for color...double walled rubber hose that has a biocide in the rubber formula. In the 5-6 years it's been on the market, I've yet to hear of a single odor permeation failure...something I can't say about SeaLand OdorSafe Plus. It's also a bit softer than OdorSafe, which makes it easier to work with.

List price is about $9...but I've found a couple of sources that have it for a lot less:

Blue Water Ship's Store in Foley, AL., at around $6/foot cut to any length. Ask for Scott and tell him I sent you. Phone is 251.943.4179

Someone posted this source on another site..I haven't verified it yet: Hydraulic Supply co. in FL . I don't recall whether shipping was extra, it doesn't appear on the invoice I Kept. Their phone no. is (800) 432-6413. The unit price is $4.09 per foot,
