Hi all, I recently bought (by my best judgement) what I think is an O'day daysailor. But, Im not sure which kind I have. (1, 2 or 3?)The thing that throws me off is the fact that It doesnt have a swing keel, and it doesnt have a centerboard trunk. The keel fin drops through a hole in the top of the cuddy and then through a raised hole in the floor. The sails (im not sure if they are the originals) say sunburst on em. The length of the boat is 17' without the rudder. It has a cuddy but its just driving me nuts trying to find out what kind of boat it is. But I do know that it was built in 1981. If you think you can help me, gimme an email at brandonthestu41@hotmail.com I have a lot of pictures of it to help. so gimme a buzz and ill send ya some pics so maybe SOMEONE can tell me which kind it is. Also: does anone have any good used sails that they would be willing to sell, my main is pretty bad, and it didnt come with the jib? Thanks Brandon

Rod Johnson,

Well, its not an O'Day.

I don't recognise this boat (maybe more pictures would help?) but I can tell you without any doubt that this is not a Day Sailer, and it not an O'Day. All the versions of the Day Sailer have had centerboards, none had a swing-keel or daggerboard. Your boat has a daggerboard. This boat appears to be much narrower than the DS. I'll keep looking through the library of old boat magazines and sales brosures that I have to see if I can ID this boat.

OK Thanks

Thanks Rod. Its driving me mad to find to what kind of boat she is. The sails say Sunburst and are made by northwynd. If that helps. Also, if you gimme ur email address I can send you molre pictures to help you figure what brand she is. Thanks for giving me a hand. Well appreciated. The closest match ive found is a precision 18 or 20 or something like that. Also the previous owner mentioned the name "quest" he said a company "quest" yachts manufactured this boat. But Ive been scouring the internet trying to find out what brand it is. Arg. Will keep searching.

Rod Johnson,

Length?

There was a company in Florida about 15-20 years ago called Quest Yachts, they were the "kit-boat" division of Hunter Marine. They built a 19 foot sailboat that might be what you have, might not...but maybe? rjohnson24@juno.com, perhaps a few more pictures will help.
