I have a 1977 Hunter 27',I keep seeing articles refering to these boats as having mast heights as tall and standred. What is the difference and why?By the way mine is 33'2"--boom 11'.
I hope an H27 owner will chime in here. But I do not think that I have read anything about two H27 masts. At least not on the Cherubinis. It is not mentioned in the specs. And I read a few owner's comments(Related Link) and saw no mention.
There is a deep and shallow draft keel,4'3",3'3",but believe all masts are as stated in specifications,35' from deck level. There were 2 or more sources for masts,so may be slight difference in length but measured in few inches.
The "Mistress" was purchased in 1979 after the New York Boat Show. The dealer refered to our rig as the "old rig". It came with a single back stay and a traveler on the cabin top The dealer installed the furling system. The furling system does not use the head stay. We are able to run wing and wing with two head sails. One hanked on the head stay and the unfurled genny.I have the spec sheet somewhere. I will try to dig it out and post the specs here. I am not sure if the mast height is any different.Ed Hopkinss/v "Mistress"
