PRESSURE TRAETED

I have a C22 trailer that has 2x8 bunks covered with indoor/outdoor carpet. The bunks are long continuous runners. Depending upon what size boat you have will determine the size wood required.

softwood

Mine are carpeted too but go with pine or other softwood so the board becomes sacrificial in the case of a hard knock. Easier to fix than gelcoat

Pressure Treated Pine

Mine are 5 years old and still in good shape although the carpet needs replacing. MArk

P.T. Pine and...

a fabric that won't rot like the stuff that you can buy in the trailer secton of marine stores or I/O carpeting, and don't forget the tacks should be non-rusting like copper or aluminum, and the bolts noncorrosive and countersunk if not side-mounted. On my dinghy trailer, the bunks were straight and the bottom round, so the flexing broke a moulded joint. Make sure your hull is happy with the fit, esp under road conditions.
