What kind of spinnaker is this?

At first glance, it looked funny, espeically in the picture it was being used in because it didn't look like much wind and I was wondering why the guy would want to dump air. After reading from that link, I realized the "Wing" adds lift to the bow instead of pulling down on the mast. I wonder if it works as good as theory. That lift, if it works, will help in large waves reduce the risk of pitch poling and also create a more smooth ride which may increase forward motion (less up and down countering the forward motion). I'm very curious if it works.

I think they look so cool and they do the same thing, lift the bow, but even better. However, I've heard a lot of bad things about them constantly falling every 10 minutes and it's a pain to get out of the water. I would love to try one though...of course without spending the dough.

Not so hard, either to put up or to keep up. Other sails pretend to lift the bow of the vessel; only kites actually do it. KiteShip kites, called OutLeaders, can make your boat safer; they never cause broaches or spinouts. And yeah, you can give it a go; we do demo sails all the time--all over the country--and world.
