What kind of boat?

IP is a very strong boat. Any ideas about why they were knocked down 3 times? Were they exsperienced sailors?

I feel bad for them; but that said, what did they expect in spring in the North Atlantic? Cupcakes and rootbeer? Did they consider their kooky venture would be magically safe from things getting torn off, such as solar and wind-generator apparatus? Did they have some kind of redundancy at all, or did they get a wild tree-hugging hair and come up with a plan that was bound to fail, then put other lives at risk to pluck their ill-conceived and not prepared asses out of harms way? Seems like they were still afloat, with the rig still up.Can you you say Manifestly Unsafe Voyage? like they say on another forum, stupid should hurt.Of course, this is all just my humble taxpayer's opinion.
