I bought my 18.5 a year ago and I've been teaching myself how to sail. This 'key' is attached to the mast where the boom attaches to the mast. What is it? Something to keep the slugs on the mainsail from back down through the gate or whatever you call it?

Do you have a "keyway" on your mast above the slug slot it'll fit?

Or maybe it's for the tack of the mainsail?

The fitting keeps sail slugs from coming out of the mast track (slot) when the sail is lowered or furled. A very handy piece of kit. Not quite sure about that green piece of paper the slug stopper is sitting on, though.

Kind regards

Hugh Straub is correct on this gents but next time, I would suggest a white background for a clearer picture. Where is that dollar bill but not enough for a Coors Light.
