What is this vent in the head?

I have a new to me 2006 Hunter 44. In both heads there is a small closable vent hole. The attached 2” vent hose goes into the bilge from one head and into the transom compartment from the other head and both vent hoses just end there. What could these be for? They are just passive vent lines so surely very little air flows in them from either direction. If anything I could imagine bilge smells coming up through the hose!!

Maybe they are used for connecting heat or AC systems. Just not attached at the moment.

The good thing is it helps with dehumidifying the head and there isn't an intake. There is also a hatch you can open for Taco Tuesdays. You can always just close the vent.
