I have a 1987 C30 with M25 Universal. Now my question is, there's a fiberglass box just to the left aft of the motor with various hoses attached to it. I believe it is some kind of heat dissapator. It is about 12"cubed. Now here is the extention to question, how difficult is it too remove? I have a mild leak coming from this thing that I want to resolve. Thanks for any input.

Is this box white and attached to the hull with two hoses coming out of the top? This is the waterlift muffler and it sound like it needs repair/replacing. See the link below for engine diagram.

Aqua-lift muffler...

Looks like you talking about your aqualift muffler...there's been a great amount of writting on this matter, check the archives. I had the same problem and read a lot about it. In short there's two positions on resolving this issue: 1) remove and repair, since it is fiberglass it can be done. 2) remove it and replace it. I chose to do #2, it was easy to remove it and I replaced with a Vetus NLP45 muffler which takes about 1/3 of the space required by the Aqualift, this allowed me to position in the engine compartment a dedicated cranking battery...system has worked out great!!! Best of luck!!! G "Emilie-Jolie" C30trbs 1987

I rebuilt the aqualift muffler on my 88, including replacing the fiberglass tubes. I painted it with gray BilgeKote, which really helped the looks. (Actually, I did the entire inside of the hull....what an improvement!!!) I do have a Vetus LSS muffler for sale, new in box, which I originally planned to use. Contact me directly, if interested.
