Anybody know? It's for sale here fairly cheap. I'd like to do a little research before I go look at it. The owner says it's "custom". From the picture it looks production to me, perhaps custom production, but yard built. Beuler?
What is this sailboat?

It is not Alberg, Halsey Herreshoff (Bristol) or S&S, because none of them would have had the skeg go straight aft with the rudder beneath it; so that threw me. The hull shape is nice though a little narrow. The keel is classic early- to mid-1960s. The wooden bulwark cap is hideous and needs to be smaller (and varnished!). The windows are too big and the trim round them looks awful. From the pics the hull looks very fair and is probably ruggedly built (I am assuming this is fiberglass).
I would buy it, providing it is in sound shape for a boat that is obviously over 40 years old. Look for rot in the deck and cockpit sole, round the toerail/bulwark, and along the cabin sides. Assume the mast step is bad and have a new one made. It looks like it has internal ballast, which is a bonus. Replace all the shroud attachment points, all the standing rigging, all the running rigging, the sails and everything electrical unless any of that is less than 15-20 years old. Do a half-A engine rebuild in place (pumps, belts, electrical and all hoses, possibly head gaskets?) before even firing it up. Change the stuffing-box packing and the bearings.
That's my 'economy' survey. You owe me $120. --ha.
All in all it's a nice-looking little boat. And remember that any boat you truly love is worth restoring, because then you know what it is and it's also YOURS. Have fun.
