Hello,

Ive been trying to diagnose some extra oil on the engine and cleaned it up real good to notice where its coming from. This is what I found...

What is that circular thing? I tried the screws but they are in there really tight and I couldnt get them to break.

Im not familier with that particular engine, but the cover looks like it is just a cover over an auxillary drive shaft for running some other direct drive option off the front of the engine....

Looks like the hand crank shaft oil seal is leaking. I had same problem. Remove the cover, with a small flat blade screw driver dig the oil seal out. Go to an auto parts shop and get a new one with old as sample. Clean up the hole, no oil will leak as it is above oil level. Push in the new oil seal and box back. Obviously with the leaky oil seal out, you shouldn't run the engine till a new seal is in place.
The cover screws need not be tight as it forms no seal. Try an impact driver to remove them.

Ken is right on.. That is the cover for the original hand crank.. The seal is Yanmar part # 128270-01820. It is a "16286" metric seal.. 16mm Id, 28mm od, and 6mm thick, lip type oil seal. As Ken says you can take it to the local auto parts place and get one or order one from your local Yanmar guy.

Jared: I would suggest that you purchase a Yanmar GM manual or one of the others. If you are going to Mx. you will need it to repair/purchase parts for the engine.

Alright, thanks guys. I'll get a Yanmar manual also to help diagnose this stuff easier.
