What is this adhesive/caulk/sealant?

I am replacing my 20 year old sanitation hoses. Just started today and going well. I have a question. On the top of my holding tank are the two fittings you see. The white hose is the holding tank vent hose and fitting. The black hose is the sanitation hose from the head to the holding tank and fitting. Both fittings thread into a washer like plastic piece. The washer like plastic pieces have a caulk like white material underneath them to adhere them to the holding tank. It was still holding well after 20 years and pliable and tacky. I don’t know what this adhesive is. As I removed the vent hose and sanitation hose today I encountered this material. It seems it was acting as an adhesive and sealer. Any idea what it is? I would like to know and use the same or similar caulk/adhesive. I attached a photo.

I would assume it is some sort of white pipe dope if not very sticky. If sticky, then could be hardware store butyl tape.

If it's still pliable it could be pre-EPA butyl tape. That stuff lasts a long time. If you need to replace it, Bed-IT tape is the only thing I know that still offers the pre-EPA characteristics. SBO has it in stock, just type Bed-IT into the store search.
