Grailing - US Sailing ussailing.org has has a perf link to most regiional sailing web sites. Lake Michigan is http://www.lmphrf.org/. There will be penitalies for your boat. Shoal draft, folding prop, roller furling ect... 174 for Spinaker and 192 for non seems to be standard for lake Michigan. MY rating in Rhode Island 192 for Spin and 223 for non spin. It is all relative. You will be ranked close to Catalina 30's Good luck

I just retired as the fleet Gov for our lake. My 28.5 has a rating of 198 racing and 204 cruising. I have a 6 sec cruising handicap for RF , also a 3 sec handicap for a sail no larger than 135% . Have a folding prop and an A symetrical spin. Hope this is of some help. Also my base here in New England is same as a Catalina 30. The 28.5 races very well! Dan
