Launched my boat today, but had a small leak. Come to find out, the Stern tube was leaking. I replaced or rebedded everything else below the waterline. I had the boat pulled again and with the boat in the Travelift, I removed the stern tube and rebedded it. Boat goes back in tomorrow. The question I had is, what is the hole below the the stern tube hole in the attached picture. It had a screw in it, but when I pulled the boat again today, it had water dripping from it. I cleaned out the hole, and rebedded the screw. Anybody know what the hole is for??

Hole

The stern tube setup on my h36 is similar but I don't have that hole. Is it possible that someone used it as a drain hole during out of the water storage? The simple way to seal it would be to bed the screw with 3M 5200.

Don't have it either

I had my '83 H27 pulled in Oct and all below W/L fittings replaced including stern tube (shaft log) stuffing box etc.. but my boat did not have that hole or anything like it. Must agree with David, someone drilled it as a drain hole.
