I am new to sailing and I got a Mac 19. I think she is great. But being new I am not sure about a part and what it is made of. I have some small cracks, some are inside around where you store the mast, and there is one on the port side bench close to the battery compartment. I also have a chip outside, on the seat/step next to the door going inside, It looks like someone droped something on it and chiped it. The one out side you can see fiberglass underneath it, but the ones inside look to be a seperate peice not directly connected to the hull. I have one on the roof next to what I would call the mast support pole, where the table gos, but is in the area not directly connected to the roof, a nonsupporting area.I would like to get them repaired & would like to do it myself but I don't know what these peices are made of? Any ideas. Thanks for any help you can give.

What you describe...

sounds like gelcoat damage over csm (chopped strand mat or fg mat)for the most part, and some spider cracking. Both appear to be surface damage and can be fixed with a product from Bondo called gelcoat. It is two-part, and is relatively easy to apply and sand to match the surrounding area. Clean the area with acetone first.
