The Hunter website says the 23.5 has a displacement of 3000 lbs and a ballast of 1000 lbs. My sales flyer from hunter in 1993 states the displacement (dry) is 1000 lbs. It also states with the Ballast (tank full) is 2000 lbs. Is this total weight ? Mast height from the sales flyer is 32'6" from the Hunter website is 33'6". Which is correct ? I'm guessing my water ballast is only a 120 gallon since I recently pumped it out. I'm leaning toward the sales brouchure ? Does anyone know for sure ? Fred I have the sales brouchure on this link along with the some of the owners manual.

heavier than you think

I would go with the 3000 / 1000 figures. My '93 19 weighs somewhere around 1500 w/o ballast water. More when fitted out.

Correct?

I have a 1994 23.5 and I believe the correct weight from my information is the boat dry weighs 2000 lbs. with the water ballast adding 1000 lbs. for a total ballasted weight of 3000 lbs.

Anyone Run One Across a Scale?

I keep meaning to when it is on the trailer but never seem to get around to it. I always seem to be in a hurry to get it back in the water for some reason.

Scale - tale

We moved our boat (1994 H 23.5) to Virginia back in 1996. I weighed it on the trailer without lots of extra gear in the boat. The boat and trailer weighed in right at 3000 pounds. My understanding is the trailer itself is about 900-1000 pounds, so that makes the boat roughly 2000 dry, and 1000 more with water ballast. Allen S/V Couldn't Wait

Allen, What was on the Boat?

That is getting pretty close to the weight limit on the axle which is #3500. We may all be pushing that limit with a motor and all of our other stuff aboard. I am really thinking that adding a second axle is a good idea if traveling very far very often.

Boat load....

At the time we weighed the boat, only the items that came with the boat (rigging, sails, anchor, life jackets), the outboard and empty fuel tank were on the boat. Due to the axle limitations, we have never trailered with much more than this in the boat. I have thought about an additional axle, but never investigated actually doing it. Keep us posted if you decide to add a second axle. Allen
