My sister has crewed a lot on a lito 14 and our our larger boats, but now wants her own boat.

She is NOT into capsizing, so she is looking at a keel boat, hopefuly a swing keel so she can trailer it and launch it with her truck.

Any ideas?

Thanks

There are a ton of boats in the 14 - 20' range. You can view most of them at this website by just entering the Min length = 14 and Max length = 20 and do not enter a brand name. There are a lot of smaller boats to choose from but not all are designed with a swing keel.
Also depends on what is available in your area and how much (or little) you want to spend.
The little Montgomery boats seem to be well regarded: http://sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=5659

Guess it depends on her taste and piggy bank. I'd say pick a price range and a style, then go to SBO classifieds, sailboat listings, sailing texas, yacht world, craigslist, etc.
Pick up a copy of small craft advisor at WM, it's all about cool pocket cruisers and the people that belong to them.
Hunting boats can be a lot of fun. At least for me.

Does she want something daysailor/sporty?? If so, the Capri 16.5 keel version might work, though they're harder to find than the centerboard version we had.

The Capri 16 or 18 are also pretty decent little sailors with the plus of having a cabin you can sleep in.

I am going to chime in and suggest a look at the Precision line of boats. The P18 may be right up your alley. Well built, good sailing boats. I have a P21 and I love it.

Edit: just re read your original post and saw that you said 14 to 16 foot. The P165 is a nice boat too, but not a swing keel. Its a shoal keel that's pretty easy to launch. Pretty fast little boat.

It's West Wight Potter and Lido. Not Wes Wright Potter and lito. I assume you are looking for a daysailer - not a boat with a cabin. If so, the WD Schock Harbor 14 is a nice little day sailor with a keel. The Precision 15 comes with a keel.

Precision makes a 15 swing centerboard that is very nice boat to consider. The new Hunter 15 and 18 are decent and built out of fiberglass. The Catalina 14.2 and 16.5 you should look at but the freeboard is not as tall as most others.

I use to sell those if you are looking at daysailors but I am retired from the industry.
