What happened to the Caravelle SERENA for sale?

i know Serna was for sale because Mr. Rommet's wife was very ill. I will do some digging on Serna's status.
I e-mailed Andres Roomet the other night and I am happy to report that Serena has been pulled off the market, repowered and that Mr. Roomet is looking forward to enjoying the coming season.
In our discussion, I mentioned that Anne and I plan to bring Bounding Home to Maine for the 2012 season and discussed a possible Caravelle / Challenger Rendezvous. Mr. Roomet has kindly offered to host a party at his place in Northeast Harbor in July 2012. Let's start thinking about putting something together. I will be happy to head the procedure having gained way too much experience running the cruise committee of our yacht club. I do know that in order to guarrantee a slip in Northeast Harbor, you need to contact their harbormaster in January. Getting a mooring is first come - fist served and if you arrive much after 10:30, you anchor. I would suggest using part of a cruise that I arranged which would start in NE Harbor. Sail to Booklin's Wooden Boat School for affordable moorings and a place for a covered lobster bake and then either Pulpit Harbor or Camden for a wrap up dinner. Any interest out there? I would seriously start marketing a date as of September 2011 so everyone can get it on their schedules.

That's good to hear on SERENA.
We'd try to make a get together, at least to one location. I'd agree with Northeast Harbor as a primary spot. In our experience, best idea may be to plan to get a mooring the day before. Most likely you'd secure one before the day was over and you can keep it as long as you like. Dockage as you say is taken far in advance.
We've always found a mooring there in the past, normally arriving not too late. Luck would hopefully not have the get together coincide with say the NYYC fleet or something similar.

I like the idea of getting to NE Harbor the day before. It would make things easier. I know its expensive but can you image how fantastic it would be to take over the docks and walk from boat to boat.

Hello everyone. I did an internet search on Serena because I have a unique piece of artwork that has a model of her with rigging etc. It has a plaque at the bottom that says J.G. Alden Serena 1916. Is this the same boat you are talking about?

My Uncle owned and raced the SCHOONER SERENA for a few years in the late 1960s.
My father helped him acquire it, and then deliver it to the San Francisco Bay Area from Southern California.
There is a model of SERENA in the St. FRANCIS Y.C. in San Francisco. I just saw it again last Sunday.
