A good marine VHF a handheld is probably OK unless you are going out to bigger water.. then a permanent mount with an antenna on mast top is in order. next, a GPS .. again, a handheld is Ok .. something like a Garmin 72 or 78 series.. and last, an autopilot.. if you are going to be out alone or are planning some long weekend cruising..
A Raymarine ST 1000 or ST 2000 would be fine.. Most of this stuff is available new at on line retailers and some can be found on E bay or Craig's List .. This site's store has some stuff, as does PYacht.com and Defender.com and West Marine and many other marine retailers.. Best to ya and WELCOME

For me one of the most useful instruments is a depth meter. It serves for working your way in shallow waters, when anchoring and even to assist in navigation. On trailerable boats it is not unusual to find fishfinders being used as depth meters with the added benefit of being able to observe bottom contours and assisting in a little fishing. If the boat's bottom is solid fiberglass you can have the puck sensor shoot through the hull to avoid having to drill. The requirement is that there be no air bubbles between the puck and the hull nor inside the hull. It can be attached by a small pool of epoxy or utilizing some kind of putty( a home toilet seal) . The recommended location would be as forward as posible in the centerline and shooting downward with no obstructions

The only viable place for transducers or a puck in behind the water ballast tank under the rear berth as it is next to impossible forward in the 23.5.

If you do go with a mast head antenna for VHF, there is a 2 inch double ended female connectore that you can put in the deck. There is a cap that goes over it when not in use. Suggest that if ;you are going to lower and raise the mast on the 23.5.
