What does this do?

I am sure someone knows what this line does. It's is on the compression post above the table. Assume this has something to do with lowering/lifting the table but it hasn't done anything for me for that purpose. I definitely feel a weight when I pull.

It's the counterweight to assist in raising your table.

Did not have one on my Catalina. Well that's what I thought it was. Not working tho. That's km pretty easy to move the table up and down. Thanks all

We own a 40.5 for the past 5 years. The rope is a sash cord counter weight so you car lower the table for a queen size bunk. If you own the filler (storage) The table was frozen to the compression post and wd40 or p bolster wouldn't free it. Enter Kroil . Twenty minutes and free. Table turned into a pita. Ended up making new one and new leaves like an 88 37.5. Didn't want company in those numbers anyway

The weight will clunk heeling or sleeping. A threaded hole with cap screw about 2 in horizontally against the weight will stop that . About ten in above floor

If yours is like mine, inside the little insert on the table is a chrome handle. Turn it to loosen or tighten the table. That should regulate the counterweight already mentioned.

thanks david. I tried that already. Never had a problem lifting and lowering but I get how it works now.

thats a nice looking turned bowl on the table did a local artist do it ...looks like black walnut with some of the sapwood in t and well balanced too

Woodster. The bowl is made my a gent who lives in Montana but is in Roche to sell them in he summer. Don't remember his made. It's pricey but beautiful and solid

Rendiculous. Got it at wm probably 10 years ago. Vey durable and handy. Am sure this site sells that too. Would suggest you support their business!
