Consideringa purchase - looks like the boat needs to be re-powered - any idea what something like that would cost ballpark ?

Whatever you are quoted by a professional, add 25 to 30% more for incidentals. You are going to be opening a can of worms that may include things like a stuffing box or cutlass bearing. Then there's the coupling and checking to see that the shaft is not bent, etc. A different trany may require a different prop, too (add another grand+).
There are so many boats for sale out there and it's still a buyer's market, so why get into something like a repower if you really don't have to?

If you know; if you can't personally sketch this out on your head; this is NOT the boat for you. Why take on a project you don't fully understand??

You will NOT save any money or time by doing this. Its a big purchase, why go through the trouble and potential heartache?

Well, to give you an idea, my budget estimate for repowering my Ontario 32 is $15K CDN, and I'm doing all the work myself. As they say, there's the engine and then there's... the propshaft, prop, exhaust, fittings, modifying the stringers, probably a new fuel tank while you're at it...
