Miles--including nautical miles--are distance...knots are speed (I didn't have to look it up).
what is the formula to figuring out hull speed. why is it so important that we yachtsmen understand it. what actually happens when we exceed the hull speed of our boat?
what is the difference between a good day at work and a bad day on the boat? which would you prefer?
You burn more fuel, you make more noise, you do not go much faster.
the one and only job i have ever had was on boat. great lakes steam boats. so that's a two edged sword for me

on the great lakes all the charts are in statute miles, yet so many run their speedo in knots. who knew?
