On the Boom of my 30T I have two extra stainless loops attached under the boom. are they for moving the main sheet purchase?

Ed, these are probably attachment points for your reefing system. Two loops...two reef points. Does your main sail have reef points in it? Jeff

Boom Vang attachment

Ed, I think these are for boom vang or preventer attachment.

Boom Bails

Is what they are called and I think they allow you to move the traveller to different positons on the boom for racing.

I vote reefing

Hi Ed Even though my 'new to me boat' doesn't have any reefing lines, the setup was the same as on my H26. The reefing lines are dead ended at these sliding straps then the line is run from there up through the reefing holes(grommet?) in back of mainsail and then down through the pulleys in the back of the boom where the line runs through the boom to the clamps at the front of the boom. Then the front of the sail is reefed by hooking the reef loop on front of sail to the horns at the gooseneck. Makes a nice system(if I could find the lines stored in boat somewhere, I would be happy) Otherwise, I could be wrong...

After your responses

I feel that it is designed for the traveler. Reefing can be done without loops. too far for the boom vang. I guess it is the mystery of racing my crusing boat.

Reefing

I have two towards the end of the boom and they are for jiffy reefing lines.

Hi Ed, in addition to the suggestions...

from the other posts, these SS loops can also be used to attach lazy jack lines, boom brake, preventer, etc. Terry

Reefing Lines

Ed, As you know my boat is the same year and model as yours. In my owners manual there is a diagram that shows the reefing lines tied to these loops on the bottom of the boom. I rigged mine, yes we have wind here. The line should be tied off in the loop and then run vertically to the hole in the leech of the sail, and then to the back of the boom around one of the pulleys. It then runs thru the boom to the front where there is thumb clutches. This is how it comes from the factory. I purchased blocks for the base of the mast and an organizer and 3 place clutch for the port side. I have both of the reefing lines running to it. P.S. I did buy the A-B refer unit. I don't have it all installed yet though. Thanks for the pictures.
