I'm about to re-rig another boat. I usually use Harken in areas where control is important and Schaefer where strength is parimount, but.... I've seen Garhauer now as orginal equipment on several new boats. Orginal equipment doesn't impress me very much (remember Ford supplies Firestones) but I do like what I seen. Can't give you long term usage, but they came standard on the 310. Have used them this summer and we are quite pleased with performance. As "stock" hardware it's pretty good stuff.

Rope Clutches
About 10 years ago a series of sheet stopers orrope clutches were installed on the coach roof of our 35 and there has been virtually no problems. Use is in salt water. The advantage over the other brands available was their narrow width (I have 6 per side)which enables a better fairlead angle to the adjacent winch. At the time they were very highly rated by Pratical Sailor against the competition which cost much more. A neighbor of mine installed their boom vang on a 40 and then a new 42 footer and has been very pleased with the results - this was several years ago. Their equipment appears to have a reputation of being a "good bang for the buck". No matter what brand you choose I'd consider it on its own merits.

10 year warranty
Their rigid vangs come with a 10 year warranty. Don't know about the rest of their equipment. I think that part of their lower cost has to do with selling direct to the consumer. Don't see a lot of their stuff for sale in the catalogs.

Garhaurer products are GREAT!!!!! They now have a date stamped on them for warantee. They warantee them for 10 years. I replaced some Garhaurer blocks on my 36 Catalina 2 years ago and was not charged by Garhaurer!(even though they were out of date)...Now thats good customer service. My 98 Catalina came with all new Garhaurer equiptment. They are oversized and very strong. I recently checked prices for an engine hoist and found Garhaurer to be the strongest and the least expensive. They are online, with a web address for future reference....Good luck

I like Garhauer
I had to go through Garhauer to get a new outboard engine mount for my C25. I found their customer service superb and the quality of the product I received excellent. I will be adding one of their rigid boom vangs this winter. YMMV, Justin
