Today (3/18/2013) I woke up to find an inch of snow covering a quarter inch of frozen rain. I had hoped to spend the day sandblasting the keel on my new-2-me sailboat. :cussing:

At lunch today one of my daughters reminded me that one year ago today we were sailing out of Ocracoke Island N.C. :)

So I looked back in my records. Sure enough! One year ago today we had a freakishly warm weekend in the 80's.

Just for fun I've attached a summary of our trip from last year. Hope it warms you up some. ;)

I enjoyed your write up (laughed when mentioned it was a company subsidized document). I am just beginning a project boat, and hope it will be functional enough to get on the water late in the spring. Hopefully lead to adventurous get a ways like yours.

thanks for sharing.

Another 8 inches today. It is a conspiracy I'm convinced of it.

What was to be 3/4" of snow has turned into a sleat and freezing rain coming over night.
Wee!! This winter thing is fun.

Thanks for the story. You've got a nice family and I'm sure any Dad would love to have that experience with his kids. You've all got a great memory to cherish.

5" on the ground and counting. 12" more on the way. Good thing I didn't pull the cover on Saturday.

rgranger;

I cannot believe you had that and just south of you nothing. If you ever need help in the future you know where I am and I will one day take you up on sailing at SML. I look forward to the day we can have a cup of moejoe and breakfast. At SML should you ever need professional help with your sailboat, go to Tom Hardy at Smith Mt. Yacht Club and ask for him or get his number. He practically does all the work on sailboats at the lake and I highly recommend him. If ;you ever talk with him, ask him about the time at 5 am when he drilled thru a steering cable. Only guy I know that ever did that.

Thanks DAVA

My oldest is a senior in college. Don't see him much anymore. The oldest daughter from that trip is a first-year in college. Don't see her much either.

Cat in the cradle.

I still have two at home. I'm frantically working on a restoration of a Balboa 26 so that I won't miss this season with them.
