Well, there's one reason that lake sailing is safer... But really, how often does that sort of thing happen? Once in 10 years? 15? I think you deep water guys are safe for a few years.... but then again, these things might happen in 3's...

Yeah, a little hard to believe this is real with the skipper not even looking over at the whale...photo of damage looks real enough though.

Whale of an attack!!!

A 40 ton young Southern Right Whale decided to play tag with a sailing vessel off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa. The whale then landed on a yacht belonging to Ralph Mothes and Paloma Werner, breaking the steel mast. The whale swam away and the couple was not injured.
