Ok, I know they say there are no dumb questions, but this has to be close... I need to replace the foot pump in my galley, but i don't know if it is right-handed or left-handed. Does the right or left refer to the side that the hoses attach to? Or the side that the pump is mounted on?

dont they have a diaphragm that can be replaced?? i have 4 of them and that seems to be the way to go.....goood luck......if you replace--make sure the pump fits into your space and hoses go correct direction.....makes a difference....

The answer...

In case you are wondering, Whale customer service gave this response...

"If you are looking at the pump with the foot pedal facing you the GP
0550(Right) has the hose ports on the right side of the foot lever and the GP 0551(left) has the hose ports on the left of the foot lever."

how much is their rebuilding kit??

There are two kits

Since I didnt' know which hand my foot pump used, I went ahead and tried the rebuild kit. I purchased the AK0553 kit (orings and diaphrams) for $24. Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem. One of the plastic parts was broken. So I ordered the other service kit AS0556 (spring and piston) for $21. This will be here today and I will hopefully have a working pump for half the cost of a new one.

most excellent.....thankyou--i hadnt looked that up yet, although i bought 4 used ones for my formosa--for lss than 5 dollars each...awesome.......have fun and i hope that does the trick for ye....
