Wetted rear berth wood

I've found some wood in my rear berth wet. Don't know where water comes from yet. Meantime to address the wetted wood, can I dry it with hot air gun and paint teak wood oil to the affected part to prevent it from soaking in water if there's further leak/drips?
Area concern are the front and back bulkhead portion that touches the starboard shelf in rear berth. Will get photos this weekend.

There was just recently a similar thread on this...

...topic that resulted in a recommendation to caulk the top seam of the rubrail front to rear as the rubrail/hull to deck seam is known to develop leaks. I did mine a couple of years ago and it did stop a small leak I had in the starboard aft cabin.

Ken;

If all else fails to find those leaks, then try this. Pressurize the cabin and where air comes or bubbles out, that is where the leaks generally can be found. Tape over the hatch/opening port seals. Tape a single piece of plastic over the companion way and put a small slit in it. Insert a leaf blower and tape it to the plastic. Turn it on. Have a second person with a bucket of real good soapy sudsy water with a brush and start brushing every part, rub rail, etc. Where you see bubbling is where the leaks are. Good luck in locating that leak.

We had the same problem, had to replace the plywood under the birth then found the source to be the hole where the electrical to the pedestal passes, we sealed that and we're dry.
Good luck

Sharks! Replacing wood is what I'm afraid of. Will hunt for leaks later. Thanks Ron.
