I own a 1977 Hunter 30 and the exhaust muffler just broke. I dont believe that this muffler was the original. I now have to replace it with another. I am not sure what type I should be looking for. Do I need a lift type muffler or will an inline type do. I under stand that it depends on whether your engine and muffler are above or below the water. Can anyone out there give me some advice on what I should be looking for and possibly where I can get it. I am in Long Island, NY. The one I am replacing had and intake of 1.5" Dia. and the output was 2" Dia. The muffler was located right under the fuel tank. The old muffler Dia. was about 6".

On my Hunter (1990 33.5) the Marine Wet Exhaust Muffler is a Vernalift (Mfgr. name) They are avaiable thru Jamestown Distributors amoung others. Check out the link below for info on them and the key dimensions.

Any muffler that has the correct diameter will work. I installed a Vetus water lift in front of mine.
