Hi, I have stripped the gel-coat on my 26X and am currently fairing out the hull with Microlight. Question: Can I add the graphite powder at the same time I add the barrier coat additive? I would like the have the slickness in addition to the barrier coat. Thanks, Ray Heath Huntersville, NC

Barrier coating

Yes, you can add both if you would like. Generally, you need to add the barrier additive to only the last couple coats you apply. Our recommendation for the most effective moisture barrier is a minimum 20 mil thick coating which means if you apply the epoxy with a foam roller cover you'll need 5 or 6 coats to build that thickness (a rolled, tipped coat is about 4 mils). So here's what I suggest - 2-3 coats epoxy with nothing added, 2 coats with the barrier additive, and a final coat with the graphite additive. This should accomplish what you want.
