I received an email today stating that West Marine filed for Chapter 11 on May 17, 2026. There are a dozen or so WM locations here in Eastern Massachusetts. There are 200 locations Nation wide. I’m not a fan of WM as their prices are high and their inventory is usually low or sporadic.
The goto marine retail suppliers in this area are Defender in Connecticut and Hamilton Marine in Maine.
The document stated that they’re $500 million in debt, but will continue to keep all locations open. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
