Perfect Excuse is heading south from Vancouver to join the Baja Ha Ha. Any suggestions for anchorages or slip availability in California?

There's like 800 miles of California coast. Could you be more specific? There are hundreds of anchorages in the SF Bay Area California Delta alone.

Thanks Bob & Stu. I do have cruising guides and will check your suggestions. What I asking is for people's favourite spots or suggestions based on local knowledge. We wil be in California from the second week of September to the last week of October. Moving southward from San Fransico to San Diego. There is also the possibility of returning to Canada on business so I made need a spot where I can leave our boat for a week.
SF anchorages: Richardson Bay in Sausalito - reversing currents and can be windy, there is a dinghy dock near some stores, not particularly secure as far as I know; Aquatic Park - NPS, same dinghy deal; Clipper Cove - great secure place, flat water, no real shopping. That's pretty much it. None really suitable to leave the boat for a week. Any SF guide book will tell you that, and will explain that marinas are the only place to go if you need supplies. The guides will also explain where the marinas are and local shopping from them. Availability may be limited somewhat by the AC in September, especially along the City, but the estuary always has spots, plenty in our marina and Marina Village which is close to a small shopping center (walking distance).

The Oakland Yacht Club is in the San Francisco Bay area (Alameda). Call our office and they can set up a berthing arrangement for you if that meets your schedule. The Oakland Airport is 15 minutes away and very easy to get in and out of.
